Candy's Story
Hi Everyone!
Might as well say it's summer again...really strange weather all over the place.I haven't updated lately so here it goes..
Winter was pretty uneventful, though lots of rain..which I am not too fond of. Did love the cold after an unbearablely hot summer.
I played a bit of golf, continued my nordic walks, and tai chi.. Now that it's nearly summer again, I'll probably have the nearly same routine as last summer. "Pack Ice" around my neck when exercising outside and start early..Golf will also have to be an early tee time. On the subject of golf..the Club has really changed, as well as the community, in demographics. Boomers are leaving, with young folks and children moving in. This gated community has become exceptionally desirable.
The over population of deer is still a problem ....I love them dearly, though they have successfully munched through any flowers I was foolish enough to buy! Being run out of their natural habitat by the never ending development , that is unfortunately everywhere, makes for mighty hungry and desperate critters.
Blessings to all. I feel privileged to live in the middle of this littl...Expand for more
e 'ole Carolina paradise..
Be well and take care
Candy
As a side note:
I live in a designated bird sanctuary, and I’m also a member of the Audubon and Bluebird societies so I watch and monitor mother nature ..suppling seed and water to creatures especially in need during severe weather. I can only watch with sadness, the skinny deer..their natural habitat has been destroyed by never ending construction in this once beautiful area around the lake and beyond. At least I can look back with fondness on the early days, when I first moved here.
Right now I'm monitoring the bluebird couple in one of my yard boxes. Momma laid four eggs. I see one fledging survived, and is currently being fed by mom and dad at the feeder. I've been monitoring and journaling the bluebirds since May of 2008. A fascinating study to say the least.
Unfortunately and sadly, it appears most of the once prolific populations of mallards, bluebirds, mourning doves and so many other species are declining. I can only concur that the destruction of their natural habitat around the lake and inland ..the glut of development and pollution..is the culprit.
