Candy's Story

march 20th, 2008 (first day of spring!) so i thought i might come in here and tell a few things about myself. i live in georgia now, but i am wanting to move back out west, preferably oregon. i have spent several years restoring a 1961 travel trailer, and i always love to talk with others who enjoy this kind of hobby. i'm not finished with it, but i can only work on it as time allows. such as life... i've spent as much time pouring over manuals as i've actually spent working on the thing. but it's coolest little apartment on wheels. 12 ft. WITH a bathroom & bare aluminum. i call it the gypsy wagon. :) my husband dale passed away this past october ('07). he had colon cancer. he held on for 3 years since finding out about it (already in stage 4). so i have been doing alot of reflecting these past months. i'm now beginning a new chapter of my life. all is well. life just throws those curve balls once in awhile. i miss him around here, but life forces us to only move forward. just can't stop the pace of time. i realize that more now than ever. other than water and air, time is our most precious commodity. i have one daughter. she's 15 and she is absolutely beautiful. i live for her for the most part. she is interested in going into computers or culinary arts. she is also considering a stint in the coast guard. this would make me happy because i would follow her anywhere and that would keep us near coastlines. wink wink after working at ups for about 5 years, i decided that i would strike out on my own, and now i carry blood samples from atlanta to charlotte. been doing this for 3 years now, and i love it. nothing is better than being your own boss. it's hectic and high pressure sometimes, but i love to think and drive. and i like working alone. loading, unloading and realoading my van keeps me active. my doctor tells me that i hav...Expand for more
e a dream blood pressure, and that if i would just quit SMOKING, i would be very very healthy for my age. lucky me. my brothers, mark & roger have also landed in the delivery business. mark is a truck driver (naturally) and roger, well, he brings the mail. they are both married and very happy. mark has one daughter, and roger will be looking into his daughters eyes for the first time in the next few weeks or so. currently, we are planning to meet up in charlotte for a small reunion of sorts. mark lives in augusta, wv. roger, oxford alabama. i'm in the middle (just like the birth order) on the outskirts of athens georgia. for anyone who might not remember, i was an army brat, so i've got that restless spirit. never felt the need to get back to my hometown until recently. i think i like the idea now because i'm getting older. i feel the need to connect with the family i never really got to know. it's nice to know i'm not the only one though. getting older, that is. haha since this is classmates, i thought i'd take a moment to say a few words about a couple of my favorite teachers. dower elementry - mr. carr 4th grade a wonderful man. he was in WWII (if i remember correctly) and he had a wooden leg. a great teacher, and a thoughtful man. berlin american high school - mr. schmoll 9th & 11th English what can i say? he was brilliant and funny. he loved to hand out story writing assignments, and i loved him for it. he was also a drama buff of sorts. he made me think and tap into my creative energies more than any other teacher through the years. i don't get in here as often as maybe i should. my friends from the army brat days would prob attest to this. i was horrible at letter writing. one of those things i wish i could go back and change. i like email ok. best way to contact me is not through here, but through email.. weischedel-yahoo
