Carl's Story
Hey guys,
What's to tell? Life takes us strange places. Went to college for a semester in Southern Illinois, moved back to the region and went to work at Inland and did a four year apprenticeship in Electrical. Married in late '71 and divorced in early '81. Remarried in '83, left the mill in '85 and moved to Michigan to work for GM. Moved to Hohenwald, Tn. in '88 to work at the Saturn plant in Springhill, Tn. Traveled alot for ten years or so working on special projects and now work in the IT department maintaining & installing all the fiber optics, pc's etc. Just moved this year to Bath Springs, Tn. to our planned retirement house on the banks of the Tennessee River near Clifton, Tn. Drive 86 miles each way to work, but hoping to make it work for another year or two until I'm able to retire. (Could be soon with all the stuff going on with GM.) Oldest daughter lives in Winter Haven, Fl. and has two children, middle girl lives in Atlanta with two children...Expand for more
also. My baby is 19 and she is a sophomore at East Tennessee State University. All my girls teach, or plan to, and of course they are our everything. Have had our share of tragedies, as most of us have had at this age. We lost a son in childbirth and have lost my father, wifes' father and both my brothers. Have my own "farm", 88 acres of heaven to hunt and hide out on. Starting to have health issues - falling apart stuff - Had disks in my neck and back repaired and had a hip replacement. Finally quit smoking ten years back, but then I got fat! Still love my life though - fishing and drinking a good cold Stroh's! Talk to Jim Crowell occasionally and e-mail often with him. He is in Huntsville Alabama, close enough that we should see each other, but we never do. Life always gets in our way. I still get back to the region every few years to see my mother in Valpo. and a close friend in St John. Hope to hear from some of you (Hey Chuck!)e-mail and get on touch
