Carl Miller:  

Carl's schools include New Hanover High School. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Psychology ad Sociology. He worked as the Assistant Director at Opportunities Incorporated in Wilmington NC until beginning graduate school works in the fall of 1967. He attended and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia with a Masters Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Medical and Psychiatric settings in 1969. He spend the next 10 years working in Wilmington and Washington NC with Mental Health Centers, eventually directing children and youth mental health services for a 5 county area. In 1979, Carl became the Director of Stonewall Jackson Training School in Concord, NC. He was promoted to Director of Training School Services in 1984 which required him to move to Raleigh, NC. In 1985, he was lured away from State Government and went to work for Lutheran Family Services as Vice President for Children Services. He worked for Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas until 2002 when he left his position as Senior Vice President overseeing 148 programs in NC & SC.
