Carlene's Story
I graduated from LSH school 1966, worked for GEICO then entered the Navy. Got married 1971 moved to Milwaukee. We had three children, 2 boys and 1 girl all doing well. At age 40 I finally got to go to nursing school and went to work at the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
My husband was a steel worker for 30 years. Even though he had a degree in Business Administration he loved his job. The husband and I both are retired now and enjoying ourselves traveling all summer across the U.S.A..
In 1999, we felt we had a little to much time on our hands so we discussed becoming Foster Parents and we did!
For the past 13 years we have been carring for children from all walks of life for all types of reasons. We love it and the wonderful people we have met along the way. We have such an extended family here, on holidays we cook plenty
because we never know just how many will show up with their families for dinner.

d to us and we are grateful. We have been here in Milwaukee for the past 40 years, this was the greatest place for raising our children. My daughter graduated from UWM Milwaukee with her Masters in Social Work and now working for the State of Wisconsin. My youngest son graduated high school here and went into the Air Force and has been there for past 22 years while getting his degree and working on his Masters. Our oldest son also graduated from high school here and then went into the Navy, he now lives in Houston,TX.
We are very proud of our family and the great times we had showing them the way. They have wonderful families of their own and we take joy seeing them two or three times a year.
We try to make it to Maryland, Beltsville, annually for the 4th of July holiday. This year we got lucky my husband's
family reunion is in Washington DC in July also. 2013 we will spend an entire month in Maryland and DC. It just keeps getting better.
