A dear friend of mine, Keith Cunningham, was a student in that MBA class. After a powerful and inspiring talk, the class adjourned and the students asked Ray if he would join them at their favorite hangout to have a few beers. Ray graciously accepted. "What business am I in?" Ray Kroc asked, once the group had all their beers in hand. "Everyone laughed," said Keith. "Most of the MBA students thought Ray was just fooling around." No one answered, so Ray asked the question again. "What business do you think I'm in?" The students laughed again, and finally one brave soul yelled out, "Ray, who in the world does not know that you're in the hamburger business." Ray chuckled. "That is what I thought you would say." He paused and then quickly said, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm not in the hamburger business. My business is REAL ESTATE."...Expand for more
Today McDonalds is the single largest owner of real estate in the world. It owns more property than the Catholic Church. - Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money--That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not by Robert Kiyosaki This is one of my favorite poems. I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way. The eye is a better pupil, more willing than the ear; Fine counsel is confusing, but example is always clear, And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds, For to see a good put in action is what everybody needs. I can soon learn how to do it if you will let me see it done; I can watch your hand in action, but your tongue too fast may run. And the lectures you deliver may be very wise and true, But I'd rather get my lesson by observing what you do. For I may misunderstand you and the high advice you give, But there is no misunderstanding how you act and how you live. ~Edgard A. Guest (1881-1959)". More about Carlos:"I refuse to lower my standards to accommodate those who refuse to raise theirs. In the circus, a baby elephant has a rope tied around his leg. Initially the little elephant tugs at the rope to try and break free, but eventually he gives up and accepts that he cannot move beyond the range of the rope. Years later, when the elephant has grown into a two ton ADULT ELEPHANT that could easily break the rope, he doesn’t even try because he still holds the belief that he cannot break free. Like the elephant, we often accept the limiting beliefs that we develop as children without question. We carry these beliefs with us for so long that we forget to challenge them in light of the new capabilities we have as adults.".
