September 2011- I'm beginning my second year of retirement. In February I went to Africa for a 12 day safari and just had the most terrific time. I do a lot of short hiking and walking both locally and in the nearby mountains. Went on the twelfth baseball trip going to different ball parks ever few days for a few weeks all over the country. There are over 280 professional ball parks and we have been to about 220 of them, so there are still parks to see out there. This years furthest destination was the Twins new park. Its downtown and really nice, its was packed the game we went to. Summer on the Cape was great, I watch the temperatures in so much of the country reach sky high heights so we were very lucky. We did just get hit by the hurricane/tropical storm Irene. We lost two trees but they didn't hit the house. Schools has begun again and even though I'm not going back I have been called to sub once already. So I sub, I hike, I sort rooms of memories of stuff and I travel. In 2012 I'm going to take a Viking River Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam and then go to Paris. Story Update, Sept. 2010...I retired this spring after 22 years of working in the Massachusetts Public Schools. And at some point in the spring I decided I was going to become a hiker!
