Carma's Story

Life After highschool, I discovered why the Swiss are passionate about their chocolate while studying at Franklin College in Lugano. Small schools usually have a corresponding small staff. When my economics teacher was also my history teacher was also my Italian teacher, I realized I couldn't stay forever. I returned to lovely sunny Denver, to the University of Denver for a year, majored in Italian, met Gaetano, (my fiancee) who is from Lucca (Tuscany). I studied the following year at the University of Bologna, in Italy (known for tortellini and two fantastically leaning towers, and their very eclectic university students (sp. DAMS)). I graduated, got a teaching certificate in Rome, and for the last five years have ...Expand for more
been teaching English as a foreign language in Parma (known for Parmigiano cheese, Prosciutto ham, and fog) I have also worked intermittently in restaurants and hotels (summer breaks, etc). I would very much love to be the person to save the world, but it turns out that tragedies depress me immensely, and I work much better and more efficiently in positive environments. (A reality I had to admit to myself a while ago). Never in a million years would I go back to re-live highschool: it is a phase everyone must go through once. I am quite in love with Parma and it's little pink charm, and I am very rarely homesick. On occasion I miss my friends from Denver. That is the one thing I have not been able to substitute here.
