Carmen's Story
Life is good. Not too many complaints :) I was married for nine years but am now divorced. I have two children, a boy and a girl, and I have been seeing someone special for some years now. I keep in touch with a few Braves from the class of "88".
Life at Birmingham was a blast. I look back now and realize that it was definately a great innocent time in life. If I could change one thing, I would have been more out going. I was a little too scared to have taken full advantage of that whole "high school" experience. Being on the drill team was a lot of fun. I love the relationships that I built with the other girls. What was ironic about being on drill team was that my mother was on the same team with Ms. Haskins (our teacher) when she was at Dorsey H.S. Their teacher was the dance teacher at Birmingham when I was there (can't remember her name). I also enjoyed being in the chorus because I loved to sing. Speaking of, if anyone out there has a copy of the vid...Expand for more
eo from the senior talent show, please let me know. I'm sure it was no secret that I had a hugh thing for Marcel Sellers (class of "88"). We quietly flirted until I graduated. We then went together for about three years. I know that there are at least two other Braves (class of "88" and "89") out there who share that same story :) Ms. Silvia Anderson was my favorite teacher, and I had the most fun in chorus and drill team. I also really enjoyed perfoming on stage and at the football games.
I graduated from CSUN in 1999. I started in 1988 and continued, on and off, over a span of eleven years. In that time, life got in the way (work, marriage, kids, etc...). I earned a BA in Sociology, specializing in Criminology and Corrections. I hope to someday go back for my Masters.
After high school I worked for a bit in retail and at Universal Studios. I then worked as a daycare teacher for eleven years. I now work for L.A. County as a juvenile probation officer.
