Carol's Story

Life Went to Grant Elementary in Richmond, CA (K-5) moved to Guam (6-8). Went to Glasgow H.S.(Montana)(9-11) and then my father took a new job at Vandenberg AFB in CA. I attended Lompoc H.S. (CA) for my senior year. Began college at Cal Poly, SLO, but finished at SUNY Albany after getting married -- for 54 years now; two children 41 & 45, 2 cats. Daughter lives in about 3 blocks from us with her husband and 2 daughters (8 & 10) Son lives in L.A. area, divorced, has a daughter (16) and a son (13). Lived in NY for 20 years, but am back in CA now (Sacramento area). Husband and I are retired now. Bought a truck and 5th wheel about 6 years ago and do quite a bit of traveling on the CA Central Coast as well as the Western U.S. Our cats travel with us. Other than that, I volunteer at our local SPCA and have a couple of other social groups that I belong to. In our travels, we enjoy places where we can do some hiking. School Attended Grant Elementary school in Richmond CA through 5th grade when...Expand for more
we moved to Guam. After three years there at Adelupe Elementary School and Agana Jr. High we moved to Glasgow MT where I attended Glasgow High. After three years there we moved to Lompoc CA where I graduated from Lompoc High. College Initially I attended Cal Poly in SLO as an architecture major. At the end of two years, I married my current husband and we moved east. I then attended SUNY Albany where I majored in math and got my teaching credential. While teaching I earned my master's degree from Union College in Schenectady NY. Workplace After graduating from college I taught school (8th grade math) at Scotia Jr. High School. I then taught for a year at a Iroquois Middle School in Niskayuna NY and then at Burnt-hills Ballston Lake middle school in Burnt HIlls ny. For a few years after my kids were in college, I taught math part time at Sierra College in Rocklin CA. I gave that up to do private tutoring in my home, primarily high school students. I retired from that about 6 or 7 years ago.
