Carol's Story
Hi! I left Clarenceville High School in 1974. I ended up in a small town in Iowa where I finished high school at West Delaware High School. I also completed a bachelor's degree in computer science at Mount Mercy College and I have a master's degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.
I spent 26 years working as an engineer and program manager for Rockwell Collins. I started out designing the displays that pilots use to fly the airplane. Then I traveled around the world in the early 2000s demonstrating a new weather radar system to every major airline in the world. Hong Kong was my favorite place! I then started working as a systems engineer figuring out how the equipment on the aircraft will work ...Expand for more
with all the other equipment and help to get the systems certified by the FAA until my health went down hill. I have been on medical disability for a number of years now. I retired in 2022.
I am married to Jeff (who was also an engineer at Rockwell Collins (retired now)) and we have a daughter, Michelle who graduated from Iowa State University. Michelle is a manager at Universal Studios in Orlando and loves working outside all day! My son, Jason Amthauer passed away in 1995 at age 18.
I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa which is a great city to raise a family, but in 2020 we built a second home in Florida. We visit Florida a lot when it is too cold here in Iowa.
