Carol's Story
Jeff and I dated for 6 years - through high school and college. We got married in August, 1989 after I graduated from college. This past August 12 marked our 20th wedding anniversary -- where have the years gone?!
We lived for almost 4 years in Columbus, OH (plus 1 son) while I was working and a year in Rolla, MO while I was going to graduate school. We lived in Denver, CO (plus 2 more sons) for almost 6 years. In 2000 we moved back to the St. Louis area and bought my parents' house.
I went to college intending to be a high school math teacher and did not plan to ever leave St. Louis. I graduated with just a math degree (no teaching certificate) and the knowledge that I was not really cut out to teach kids. (Which is something that is supported each time I have to help the boys with a math assignment.) I ended up with AT&T in Columbus, OH testing software. I went back to school at Ohio State and took classes, though I did not finish there. AT&T paid for me earn a Master's in Computer Science from UMR. While with AT&T, I transferred to our Denver facility and moved into software developme...Expand for more
nt. When our organization was being shut down (and I was facing a move to either Chicago or New Jersey), we decided to return to St. Louis. I now spend my days designing, writing, and testing software for MasterCard.
We like to travel, and over the years have been to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, Alaska, Hawai'i, and most of the continential US (except for New England). Pictures from some of our favorite trips are in my photo album. (Well, from those trips after we bought a digital camera, anyway...)
Our oldest son is at Oakville High School (and it's sure strange to walk in as a parent and not a student). Our two youngest are now both in middle school.
We are a baseball family in the summer -- all 3 of the boys have played (2 still play) and Jeff and I have both played softball on various leagues. We try (even if we don't always succeed) to attend an MLB game in a different city every summer -- and pictures from some of those trips are in my album.
During the school year, the two younger boys are active in scouting and music. They are all active in their youth group at church.
