Carol's Story

I have really been busy with the new city of Menifee, CA. I ran for city council last year and missed it by 50 votes. However, I am extremely involved with the new city (as of 0ctober 1, 2008) and don't have much time to myself. I am a member of Rotary (Secretary 2009 - 2010), member of the Chamber of Commerce (Economic Development Committee Secretary), Blue Ribbon Committee for the city and am the Chairman for the First Annual State of the City Menifee this month. Politically I am totally involved and am planning my campagin for the next election in 2010. I love it. The Grandsons are not too sure they love it as they are becoming "well know". Reminds me of La Habra years ago. My sons are doing fine. Scott has retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 22 years and lives with his sons about 10 minutes from me. David is still in Oregon and doing well in the cold, rain and snow. My husband is surviving the real estate market and I am still working in Clinical Research. I am ready to retire so that I can be more involved with politics. I always wanted to be a Doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a okay idea. As it turns out, they were right, however, it didn't make it that far due to finances, so I became a nurse and now do Clinical Research. I live in Menifee, CA and love it. I inheired the house and have stayed here and hope to make a difference as the new city grows. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Linda Campbell, because she was my best friend when were growing up on Naval bases. Lost track of...Expand for more
her years ago.. I have a very spoiled Chow dog named Duchness. She rules the household. That I have become a political involved in our city and love it. I enjoy speaking to the community and making a difference. My current age is 65. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely wrong. My first job was at Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim, where I got paid 1.25 an hour to be nurse. What I remember most about it is that I could really live on that amount of money. I am really enjoying my life at time and find that I am busy doing what I want to do. I have Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, Little League, City Committees, my job, and working with seniors to fill up my life. My husband and I have a Real Estate company and my son and I have a small handiman business. Retirement will be great and I look forward to it. My grandsons also keep me busy. Update, 2010 - I am retired, but always busy. I am running for City Council for the City of Menifee in the November 2 election. I am in District 4 which has about 13, 000 residences. I am reallly looking forward to the campaign trail, hard work, but worth. I am Vice Chair of the General Plan Advisory Committee which is working to develop the General Plan for land use in Menifee. This has been very interesting and I now know more about Menifee than I ever thought I would. I am one of the founding members of the City of Menifee so you can see my extreme interest in this area. The Mayor and his wife are some of my best friends. Watch for me in the papers. See you in September 2011.
