Carol's Story
Life
I have lived in Penn Hills since 1963. I’m recently a widow, lost my sweet husband a couple months ago. I have four children. A daugher and three sons, ranging in age from 58 to 40. Two are married. I have two grandchildren. Rick, my oldest age 37 Christopher, age 26 lives in Monroeville, about 3 miles from Me. My Mom and Dad passed away a few years ago. I lost my middle son, David, 4 years ago. I’ve recently lost my husband. Going back.... I taught after my children were in school at a Preschool in Churchill. My last job was a Child Development Specialist at a Drug and Alcohol Program for women and their children. It was by far the most interesting. Lots of memories. I have been married to a man who is a retired Pastor of 34 years. We were married in Aug, 2000. We both volunteered at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, NM. also the Sante Fe, NM. Conference center. We were the guest services volunteers for three summers. What a beautiful, interesting time meeting people from all over the world as well as the artists and teachers for all the p...Expand for more
rograms. We also spent 4 months in Montreat, NC. continuing volunteer work. This time I did most of their art posters and advertising, Ron worked on the history of the Conference Center. We liked Ashville and met friends we still keep in touch with. My interests haven't changed much over the years, I still love to read, art, stained glass, calligraphy, children's books and anything related to children and their experiences or perceptions. I have a potfolio of children's art and language interpretation. I love to also photogragh children. I enjoy entertaining and preparing meals. Both my husband and I are movie fans and try to catch them all as often as we can. I like to live outside the "box" I am a people person and also enjoy the quiet. I suppose I haven't really changed that much from high school except I have learned so many lessons along the way that one can't ever really be the same. I wish to continue on this journey and experience all that life holds in store for me, both good and bad. I'm happy to be a tiny part of this universe.
