Thomas's Story
In high school I was the guy always playing the trumpet. I played in college too, but it didn't turn out to be my long term calling.
I live in Milwaukee. I am married to Carol Krage Rutenbeck (who went to South Division), since 1980. We have two grown daughters, Melody and Holly. We also have 4 grandchildren.
I also have one other grown daughter, Theresa, and 4 grandchildren, from his my first marriage, to Mary Ferber Rutenbeck (Class of '66).
My schools include Wauwatosa West High School. I later attended UW-Waukesha, UW- Milwaukee, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). . I went back to UWM, when I was 42 years old, and completed my BA degree by taking classes part time while I worked full time.

ne in October 2011. It worked. Out of gratitude for my good fortune to be granted "The Gift of Life", a desire to make the rest of my life really count for something, and recognition that activity is the secret to good living, I became an active volunteer in several areas. At the medical center I became an active volunteer, advocate, and mentor. At home, I became an active volunteer and leader in our Washington Heights Neighborhood Association. Finally, I took the lead to organize a 50th Reunion celebration for the WWHS Class of 1967, our class' first event since our 20th in 1987.
My other interests include travel. While our children were growing up, Carol and I took them on road trips all over the USA and Canada. We collected refrigerator magnets for each new state or province we traveled to as a family. By the time the kids finished high school, we had been to all 48 continental states, and 6 provinces of Canada. I am also interested in politics, economics, The Onion,. music, books, movies, and too much TV.
