Carol's Story

Life Tom and I moved to Cornelius, NC about 3 years ago. We more or less "down-sized" back into a one-story ranch. Best thing we ever did. We live right next to Lake Norman. About 10 miles outside of Charlotte, NC and we are enjoying it. My daughter-in-law is pregnant and it is a little girl. Rana is due Sep 25th, right around the class re-union. So sorry to say we won't be making it back. My Work Bio ? Do you really want to read about it? I've had variety. But I won't go through a chronology of my work history. I wish I could have done more with myself but I'm still proud of my accomplishments. I have probably at least 10 more years of working full-time and that's if my nerves can handle it. Despite this, I'm still very healthy so unless I can't walk or breathe on my own, you won't see me calling it quits. I wish I would have stayed with the NFL team, Carolina Panthers. The biggest mistake was leaving them. But I just recently started working for the Panthers at home games in Guest Relations for the 2008 football season. This is part-time but maybe they will offer me full-time permanent job in the future again. Military Well, I didn't actually work for the military directly. But I did have the pleasure of working for Mc Donnell Douglas on the Defense side for 8 years while living in St. Louis. I worked as a secretary for the McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company (MDAC-STL). I supported the Missiles and Space side. That was the next best thing to me achieving my childhood dream of becoming a women astronaut. Yep, my eyes were always glued for hours to the TV when those space capsules went up into outer space. When working at MDAC I had a Secret clearance and our customer...Expand for more
was the DoD for US Navy, Marines, and Air Force. So I saw many military officers in my time there. MDAC was the best opportunity I ever had in my entire career. That business unit is still headquartered in St. Louis under the name of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. My twin sister works for Boeing in St. Louis now and she is re-hire to Boeing from the good ole MDC days. She has got it made now. But enough of that. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Kathy McCarthy in St. Ann, MO, because I lived next door to her for most of my childhood on Ashby Rd and we had such a great time together as children. I moved away when my parents divorced and it would be very fulfilling to see her again. My first biggest crush - well I won't say who it is - cause he was definitely from my 73 class but it was way before Tom Farwig (now my hubby). It turns out that Tom definitely knows him. So I had a crush on this guy long before I met Tom, while I was attending Hoech - 9th grade. The wrong girl got to wear his letter sweater. It should have been me. Nobody knows who it was, NOBODY! But Tom Farwig is the true love of my life. We have now been married for 35 years. Childhood Memories: I have so many but one of them is holding those Beetles concerts in our backyard. We imitated the Beetles band group. I will also never forget those weekend trips on the SS Admiral. My dad played in the band every weekend on the ballroom floor. Johnny Polsun (spelling?) was the director of that big band. I also remember those VP fairs on the riverfront and my Dad also played in the concert band that played while the fireworks were being fired off. I will never forget watching the Arch being built.
