Carol's Story

I always wanted to be a stand up comedian when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a poor idea. As it turns out, they were just being safe. Well, I never made it to Hollywood, but I have had my 15 minutes of fame on a few stages. I'm satisfied. To have been able to retire healthy is good enough for me. I am now a "great grandma" of twin girls born this July. My oldest grandson and his wife are very excited, I don't know how they tell them apart yet. They live in Colorado, so I get to take a flight once in a while to visit. Also, raising my 7 year old grand daughter since birth as her Mother passed away before the baby was 3 months old. What a challenge. She is so hyper and bounces around everywhere.I have 5 grand children so far. Looks like that will be it, now just looking forward to more "greats". Life is good, I have returned to my roots in Taylor. Man, it just isn't the same as when I looked thru the eyes of a teenager. I like to travel by car or airplane. Hope someday to take a cruise. Can't wait for spring of 2010, just for the return of warm weather. There are not too many of us 66-ers around anymore, so many have moved far away and some have gone to a better place. It would be nice to hear from my schoolmates once in awhile. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a good salary, lots of breaks, and a company car to be able to de...Expand for more
al with the day-to-day. My parents! My Dad was a WWII veteran, I later learned he was quite a decorated soldier and my Mother worked in a war plant making machine guns and parts, she was a chief inspector at the end of the war. I REALLY ENJOY DANCING WITH THE STARS, NCIS WITH MARK HARMON,GHOST WHISPERER If I could improve my home, I'd remodel THE UPSTAIRS and add on a EXTRA BATHROOM. My dream home would be IN cOLORADO. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to the VA, then spend the rest on me, me and me. My current age is 61. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be ancient. I was so completely wrong. My best friend would tell you I'm ungrateful, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as fortunate. She is gone now, I have no best friend anymore. NOt like she was. I share my home with my husband, daughter, and 2 cats, and a new addition of a dog. My first job was at INDUSTRIAL CABLE & SLLING CO., where I got paid $2.50/HR to TYPE BILLS AND TAKE TELEPHONE ORDERS.. What I remember most about it is MY BOSS WAS VERY NICE. HALLOWEEN TRICK OR TREATING WAS ALWAYS A GOOD THING, ESPECIALLY THE PARADES AT TREADWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE OLD NEIGHBORHOOD BEFORE THE HOUSES ACROSS THE STREET WERE BUILT IN THE 50"S AFTER THE KOREAN WAR. Does anyone read these comments? You can find me on Facebook, see you there.
