Carol Parsons:

CLASS OF 1970
Aurora, CO

Carol's Story

Hi there! At Central I was rather shy but loved being in Journalism with Ms Plowman; she finally got me to open up. She said my eyes do my talking for me...smile. I used to wear alot of black or gray...forget that now, I love colors. My long hair has gone to just above my shoulders with that dreaded gray right at the temples...my husband loves it. I think he does because he has blonde hair and his gray doesn't show...lol. I married (Alan) Scott Parsons in Oct of 1970 so this year we will be having our 40th, too. We have 2 great sons, Steven 37 and Nick 31 and they still amaze me everyday!! Still not a grandmother, but have loads of grand nephews and nieces. One day soon...smile. Scott joined the Navy and we got to see the World! He became a Seabee which really are the 1st to land, not the Marines!! They did all the constructions of airports, buildings, camps, etc; then the Marines came. Me? Hardly anyone knew this but I was losing my hearing while in high school. I later lost it all, but that doesn't stop me from doing alot, the biggest thing is I have to wait until the new movies come out on DVD before I can see them with closed caption. Wow, right?! I did learn sign language while at college, but my lipreading is awesome, so that's how I get by. YOu can say all you want behind my back, but if I can see your lips, watch out...lol! I had my own janitorial/housekeeping business for 29 years and loved it! Call me crazy, but I really like to clean. I'm retired now and love it! Now I have time to clean my own home. he way I have coached little league baseball, golfed, bowled for many years, had some essays published, ran a use book store up in Craig, did a Thelma and Louise every summer, went to San Fran, Vegas, of course, Canada, and even went to Mount Rushmore, fished with Scott and the boys, made some wonderful friends...my best friend Corey and I have been buddies for over 30 years. We met when I was coaching her son in baseball. I have gone back at age 45 to college and got my Asso. in Humanities. I am half way through with a book I plan on finishing this year. I still love words, have a very vivid imagination, and have lived some pretty different ways then I ever thought I would. After Scott got out of the Navy, we came back to Aurora, because our parents were still here and sort of liked having us around. Steven played baseball and football for the Trojans and graduated from Aurora Central in 1990, 20 years to the day after I did. Nick Shane went to Overland and was on the track and swimming teams; he currently lives in San Diego by his beloved ocean. Steven is here in Aurora and has just opened a medical marijuana dispensary called Stoneybrook. Never thought I lived to see the day!! Well, that enough for now. I would really like for Terri Russell and Peggy Dickinson to get in touch with me...we did have some fun!! David, if you read this I just want to say thank you for so much!! Bob Hagedorn, hey Guy, thankkkks for all the help with the photography in Journalism; I still take pretty good ones today!! Be good and stay safe Everyone!! Carol
