Carol's Story

Life Married for 36 years this August 08. Not all blissful but still blessed. Five kids, two daughters and three sons ranging in ages 20-29. Served 27 years in the military and still serving. Currently in Atlanta, GA with four of my five kids residing with me to include two grandchildren out of four. Deployed to Iraq in 2008 for a year. Plan to retire in a year or two. Just want to insure that my retirement and disability will be enough to make ends meet without having to get employment. Received a certificate for Child Care Skills with honors in 2009 just in case I decide to have an in home daycare. Also received my Associates in Human Resources with honors in January 2012. I'm a cancer survivor. God is my inspiration in all that I accomplish. Hooah! As of today, 29 April 2015 I'm doing nothing but what I want to. n in Atlanta upon my retirement. I miss it but I can't remain in it forever. As a retired veteran I'll always be a part of it with many benefits. I can go to any commissary or PX in the world regardless of which branch of service on any base. One of my sons has taken it upon himself to follow my military footsteps and has joined the US Army in the same career field as myself. I'm very proud of him. I have seven grand-babies ranging 3 months to 7 years, four grandsons and three granddaughters. God comes first and foremost in my life and only through him were a lot of my accomplishments possible and illnesses overcome. I love attending the church I've joined and the people. I try to live each day according to his will. I love to cook, draw, knit, and fish. I occasionally sew. Otherwise I'm doing great and trying to keep myself busy to avoid getting bored. Some of my soldiers still text me or call me just to see how I'm doing which makes it all worthwhile.
