Ann's Story
Life
I am the wife of a good man, mother to two grown sons, grandmother to two spunky grandchildren, team mate on the Play-Based Assessment Team (assess children 3,4 and 5 with special needs for my local school district), but have never lost my love for the Arts. Have I changed? Of course, and for the better I hope. Did I follow my youthful dream of becoming a noted artist? No, but I use my skills everyday and surprise myself at times. I studied Art in college for several years and just walked away from it all one day. Then I traveled about..."looking for America", found Texas, fell in love with it and the man I married. hildren for the past 25 years - the last three I've spent evaluating children for the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities. In three short years our program became a showcase for other districts to visit and model thru Promising Practices. I am active in my church and enjoy visits from my grandchildren. I miss Virginia at times, but have made many friends here in Texas. My roots are dug in pretty deep, but I've never forgotten my beginnings. My family has been in the Virginia/North Carolina area for the past 370 years so it's hard to let go of that much history, but I have begun by own chapter here. I've had extraordinary experiences in my life and though I would not change them, perhaps I would have taken a different path through them. I am content.
