Carol's Story
Life
I went to St. Vincent's Academy in Savannah, have taught at Mount DeSales Academy in Macon, retired from Benedictine Military School in 2011, and currently teach at Savannah State University..
My connection with Forest Lake Academy was through my ex-husband, Randy Taylor, who went to school there between 1960-64, but did not graduate. I have heard all the stories. But I divorced him in May of 2003.
I have two wonderful sons: Joe (37years old) who lives in California and works in the computer industry and Michael (32 years old) who is also living in California and working as a civil engineer. He opened his own firm and is doing very well. Both of my sons are married to wonderful women. Joe and Lisa have two children, Eli and Emily, and Michael and Amy have two children, Caroline and Lucia (named after my mother).
I was a teacher of English literature and French for over 37 years...loved it and loved my students.
School
I am a product of the Catholic school system in Savannah, GA. I attended Nativity of Our Lord (grammar school) and St. Vincent's Academy (high school).
College
I attended Armstrong State College in Savannah, GA for two years. If I had continued, I would have been part of the first graduating class when it became a four year institution. That would have been 1968.
I transferred to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro...loved it...loved NC. Unfortunately...Expand for more
, I got sick and returned home to recuperate. My parents did not want me so far from home, so I transferred to the University of Georgia. I graduated with a BA in Romance Languages in 1968, continued on with my Master's program. But, again school was interrupted when I got married in 1970. My new husband was drafted shortly after our marriage. Instead of going to Vietnam, he was sent to Germany, a chance too good for me to pass up, so I went too. Upon our return to the States, I got sidetracked with life for a few years...finally finished my Master's Degree in Romance Languages in 1974 (UGA), just a month before the birth of our first child.
I have also attended Savannah State College (teaching credentials), Mercer University (more teaching credentials), and Armstrong Atlantic University (even more teaching credentials). I taught at Benedictine Military School in Savannah, GA, but I have no intention of going back to school until I reach that age when I can go for free and for fun!!!
Workplace
I taught at Benedictine Military School in Savannah, GA for 28 years. It was a truly wonderful experience. I retired in June 2011, and I now have the ability to travel more and spend more time with my children and grandchildren.
Current Situation
I am currently single and loving it. I am also preparing to move to California eventually so I can be closer to my kids and grandchildren. Life is good!
