Carol's Story

Life I am a lawyer. Did divorce law for some time and now I work trying to get children back with their families when the state has removed them. Public Interest work. It is hard, there is no money in it but you feel good when it works. My kids are all doing real well and my grandkids are the light of my life. I am single and have been for a few years. I am married to my job. I am raising my 15 year old nephew. His Dad passed away and his mother has a drug problem. It has made quite a change in my life. I am always busy. Haven't had much time to reconnect with the real world but I try. Have great friends, a different life in Florida and I am very happy with my life. I have come a long way, baby and I am loving it. School Went back to school when the kids grew up. There is life after high school, kids and marriage. PS, although I did not attend my graduation at Oceanside, I did graduate in 1963. Spent the day at Towne Tavern with Sharon Taylor and some other folks celebrating my graduation by underage drinking. I bet it was more fun than ...Expand for more
the ceremony itself. Of course, I don't think my parents would agree. College When the kids grew up, I went to Adelphi University and graduated cum laude, then on to CUNY Law School at Queens College, a public interest law school and had the greatest time of my life. I loved law school, it was diverse, fun and I was asked to give the opening statement to incoming members of the GALA, the gay and lesbian association at my school. Although, I was not a member, they thought I was great, no biases I guess, and I learned so much about getting along with all kinds of people. It was an education in diversity. Workplace I work in Courtroom 5B of the Marion County Judicial Center where I spend just about every day in front of judges. I have a great rap with most of them and they like me alot. My office is fun and is a crazy place where people walk in and out all day long. I am never alone. I am the mayor of my courthouse and everyone thinks I should just move in I am there so much. I have great friends there and I look forward to going in every day.
