Carole's Story
Life
After graduation from Bryant HS I went into nursing school at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital/New York Medical College. I graduated in September 1961 and went to work at NYU Medical Center in the operating room. In 1965 I left the hospital and went to work in a Plastic Surgery office where I stayed for 16 years. I married a guy from NJ who I met skiing at Hunter Mtn. I was a certified ski instructore there. We were married one year later, and continued to ski and teach at Hunter until today. We have 2 children, a boy age 24 and a girl age 22. Our son made us grandparents 2 years ago. Our little grandson is adorable of course. I still work as a nurse doing substitute school nursing. My husband retired 2 years ago from his position as a High School teacher after 40 years. We have a 30 foot sailboat and enjoy cruising Raritan Bay and Long Island Sound. We hope to take the boat to Florida some day. Before I married I traveled to Europe twice, to...Expand for more
Japan for the winter olympics in 1972 and skied in Europe 4 times. I also skied out west and in Canada many times. I worked as a volunteer at the winter olympics at Lake Placid in 1980. My husband and I traveled to Nova Scotia, New Foundland, hiked down into the Grand Canyon and around Utah and Colorado. As a family we did alot of camping in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New England. We drove cross country from NJ to Wyoming and back with our little pop-up camper when the kids were 7 and 9 years old respectively. We have also vacationed in St.Martin with our grown up kids. My husband and I visited friends in Hungary for 2 weeks a couple of years ago. We visited other friends in Southern California 4 summers, 2 with the teenage kids. We have camped on Assateague Island, Maryland when the kids were young every year for about 10 years. Life has been goood. I'm on the reunion committee and looking forward to seeing all of you in October.
