Carole's Story

Favorite teacher? Bill Day. Sure I'd do it all over again if I could retain today's knowledge and experiences. If so, I wouldn't be so easy to hurt or intimidate. Funniest memories are legion: hanging our bras up along the arched entry at the Roush's. A slumber party where we all decided to walk into Gahanna, in our jammies, at midnight. To prevent identification, we'd form a football huddle in the middle of the street! Sadie Hawkins dances--my favorites. Ornery fun on Halloween with corn shocks, road signs, toilet paper, barricades, etc. Another favorite, working in the office and hearing Principal Bush say he'd like to know who TP'd the high school sign at the front corner. College I became a professional student. Columbus Business University was followed by Franklin Business University, Ohio State, National Institutes of Mental Health, Masters & Johnson, Walsh Institute, Grossmont College and LBCC (I like books, ideas and learning). Workplace Continental Insurance; Bretcher & Clark; Columbia National Insurance; Southwest Community Mental Health; Fivecoat, With & Dunn; KCMX AM & FM; Colwell Chiropractic; owner of Getting It Write; owner of Chiropractic Connection and owner of The Flower Farm. Update: 2010. My GMC Jimmy was T-boned by a contractor on 12/03/05. It's now 01/07/10 and I have just finally regained a working body and mind--I'm sure my husband would have a fast quip to that last sentence--and I'd have to sling a sting right back at him. Thankfully I can again "hold my own." Daughter Tasa is 36 now and has a five year old daughter, Lucia. What a chip off the family block. She is witty, constantly on the go, in think mode, an auxillary cook with her father since age six months and probably thinking up her first art show. Being...Expand for more
a grandparent is the prize for longevity. Larry and I are officially retired. This past November/December we went back to Puerto Vallarta for three weeks. You need to know that people who live in Oregon need to break up the winter season with spots of sun or mildew sets in between our webbed toes. Our plans for February are to hit the road in our 5th wheel for six to eight weeks. This will be a first for us. We'll be visiting, looking for land in northern California and Nevada; Arizona from Verde Valley to a bit north; lastly New Mexico. I'll be campaigning to go north in the late summer to early fall--back to Montana and Sascatchewan. I believe what we're leading up to is "snowbird time". A shack in the south for wintertime and a cabin in the north for summertime. We'll see. It could be that 15 years from now we'll still be in Oregon, kvetching about the rain, the bit of cold or a rare day when it hits 90 plus. Yes, we will be at the 50th reunion. I'm so excited it's like be a kid at Halloween with a grocery sack full of candy. Larry and I are flying from Oregon to Columbus. We'll pick up a car and then motor on over the Buckeye Lake and Jim Peters' cabin. Thanks to Jim's generosity we have a wonderful place to stay. Our foursome will also be attending the Millersport Corn Festival. Any others interested? Carole Johnson Can you believe it is June 22nd? and I am just now planting seeds in our garden! Oregon's weather, like so many other areas of the world, has been beyond unusual. I know Oregon has the reputation for being wet--but that's to the north and south of us. The rainfall here has been historic. A neighbor across the street planted corn three different times. All of the corn seeds rotted. I'll see you in August, 2010.
