Carolee's Story
Life
Hello everyone. I'm working for the U.S. Government and have spent the last 13 years living overseas. Although most of my time has been spent in Europe, I now live in Tel Aviv, Israel and work at the U. S. Embassy. I look forward to my new assignment next summer that will take me to Washington, DC.
July 2001: Arrived back in the States. My new assignment has me working as a member of the Advance Team for the Secretary of State. Since July, my travels have taken me to Seoul, Korea; Lima, Peru; New York; Islamabad, Pakistan; Tashkent, Uzbekistan; New Delhi, India; Kahtmandu, Nepal; and Tokyo, Japan.
August 2002. My travels continue. . . Iceland; Madrid, Spain; back to Israel, and most recently Jakarta, Indonesia, Gabon, West Africa, Bogota, Colombia, Quito, Ecuador, Islamabad, Pakistan, Delhi, India.
October 2004. I look forward to the challen...Expand for more
ges my new assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan will bring.
October 2005 - July 2008. Assignments during this time frame took me to: Italy (Rome, Torino, and Naples), Riga Lativa, The Hague Netherlands, Budapest Hungary, Helsinki Finland, Kiyv Ukraine, Tiblisi Georgia, and Bern Switzerland, and Tallinn Estonia. In between work I was able to go hiking above the Arctic Circle, saw Joey Cheek win,a gold medal in speed skating. I celebrated New Year's 2006 by jumping into the North Sea. Hiked up Mount Vesuvius and spent alot of time at Pompeii.
August 2008/2009. I am back in Washington, DC for training for preparation of my next assignment as a GSO. Six months of job training and 6 months of Spanish. In August, I will be moving to Panama for 2 years.
Really enjoying this Foreign Service gig! When I retire in 8 years I plan to see some of my own country!
