Caroline's Story

I met my husband in Sept of 2000. We were set up on a blind date by my cousin who thought I sould get out more. We were married a year later. Now that we have 3 kids we don't get out anymore. My kids really keep me active. My son, Mike, is 9. I really can't believe he's in the forth grade. This past year he decided he wants to play the french horn? (I always thought he would be a drummer!) So, this year he has Mr. Capaldi for music. Mike has type 1 diabetes and is on an insulin pump. He attended diabetes camp again this past summer. My daughter, Elizabeth, is now 6. She is very excited about being in school all day this year in 1st grade. She has been taking English horseback riding lessons for two years now, and has become quite good. My baby is Catie. She was born on my mothers birthday. She has so much energy. She made it to 3, but I haven't decided if 3 is any better than 2. Catie and Eliza both take ballet, jazz, tap and acrobats and are looking forward to their first duet during their second dance recital this summer. To add to the bedlam in my home, I have three pets. One dog and 2 cats. We named the dog Indiana. We thought it was a cute idea. He's a chocolate lab mix. We've had our one cat for several years. Mike named her after the cat in 101 dalmations because he thought the cats looked the same. A few months ago we fell in love with a siamese mix at a shelter. We were unable to adopt him because we have a dog. My best friend went and got him for f...Expand for more
or us. In her honor we named the cat Tyberius. (If you can figure out the best friend you get a cookie. Hint: MTL class of '93) For the past 9 years, I have been working for a real estate management company my parents started. They plan to retire next year (but they've been saying that for years!!!). While the perks can be good, I have come to realize that it's hard to work for and with family. To that end I decided to get a job I love. In 2007 I was approached about becoming one of the adult instructors for the Mt. Lebanon Silks (Colorguard) and Rockettes. I actually got to go on a band trip - to NYC for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. We had a great time and the kids were wonderful. This Holiday season we head to San Diego to perform at the Pacific Life Bowl & Parade. There are also plans in the works to start a Winter Guard program. There is hope of bringing back a rifle line next year, so I am really excited about the changes in store. Maybe Rockette alumni will stop asking about what happened those stupid boots; to which I reply, they went out in the 80's- get over it! I also do alot of volunteer work at my church. I am a Sunday School teacher (there is no need to laugh). I work with the youth club program-where I teach little girls how to trill a flag, and I ring handbells. This past year I was installed as a Deacon. I remember asking a friend, several years ago, what a Deacon was and sometimes I still wonder. These are the reasons that I never get out anymore.
