Carolyn's Story
Life
I've been married to Dave Ferrucci for the past 27 years! My groom and I have two sons who seem to live with us - at least I'm doing their laundry so they must still be here.
Frank, our eldest graduated from Rowan University with a degree in business management and works at the family nursery. Dave Paul is a junior at the University of Delaware majoring in agribusiness (I know, whoever heard of such a major) and planning his takeover of the world.
Anthony (Tony) my eldest brother and also a graduate of Delsea, passed away after a long fight with cancer. It's tough realizing that one more birthday will make me older than he'll ever be. He's left behind a wife and nine-year-old daughter. I miss him.
Angelo, my younger brother and also a Delsea grad, is a personal chef living and working in Orlando, Florida. Angelo has a 15 year-old son, Michael, from his first marriage.
I'm still at Delsea, still teaching American History (l...Expand for more
ove it, love it, love it!). For the past five years I've instructed the Honors/AP students as well as the college bound kids at the high school. I'm in Carrozzino's old classroom and I'm loving the irony of that! Prior to that, I was at the middle school for eight years.
I received my masters in educational leadership in 2000 but haven't been able to let go of the classroom. Maybe someday.
In 2005, I attended the week-long George Washington Teacher's Institute at Mount Vernon. For eight glorious days I (and others) had the run of the farm. Watching the sunset over the Potomac just as George and Martha did was incredible. Sipping morning java and waiting for the sunrise was just as magical. This past March I was chosen to represent all of New Jersey at their Educational Planning Summit; another wonderful experience I was honored to take part in.
Who'd have ever thought Carolyn Bersani would have achieved so much?
Not I!
