Carolyn's Story

Life Aloha to anyone who reads this. I am doing really good these days. I am living in Hawaii on the island of Maui now and let me tell you it sure beats looking at the tallest fountain every day. The weather is always 80 degrees and perfect. The skys are mostly blue and the ocean always has something going on. It's either flat and calm due to the Kona winds, waving and relaxed due to the cool and steady trade winds, or raging and angry due to a storm approaching the island. I've been a dog groomer since the year 2000. Mostly in Fountain Hills at a place called Doggie Style. What a great place to work and what a great job I have. Now, in Hawaii I have opened up my own grooming business in my own backyard called Island Stylin'. My boyfriend and our crew built it and it has been up and running for a 4 years now. In the mean time my boyfriend and I have remodled 11 homes in 8 months and have built an ohana ,which is a guest house, from the gound up. We have built a huge addition on to a wonderful familys house, who now have become great friends of ours. We remodeled a commercial building for the same family, and are taking care of the 11 houses that we romodeled. We have also been doing a lot of work for one of the richest men on earth here for about 4 years now. The jobs keep us busy and the owners keep becoming our friends. Life could'nt be any better. Since I've been out of school I have traveled a lot with my boyfriend to many different places. I've been to northern California all the way down to southern California. I've been to Portland Oregon. Washington, Jackson Hole Wyoming. Bar hopped all of Montana. I've been to Lewiston Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado , Hawaii, Harrisburg Pennsalvania, Manhatten New York, and of course Puerto Panasco. Oh yeah I have also been to a place Gonzaga , which is halfway down the baha, and pretty much the only way in is by private plane. A friend of ours has his own small plane and him and his wife flew us there. It took about 4.5 hours. It was Kindof scary but worth every minute of it. Well anyway I could go on forever and ever but I won't bore you all. If anyone is even reading this. Take care all of you and hope to hear from someone. Oh and I miss shool very much, It would be nice to hear from somebody. Teachers, students who ever. 3-20-08 Well.......as of March 14th 2008 my 20's are over. I have now entered into the world of being 30. AAAGGGHHH! But let me tell you my 20's were very memorable and successful. I made a lot of big moves and big decisions and am very proud and blessed on how they all turned out. I have a great man that cares for me with all of his heart, I have a great job and friends and family. Life is good. My husband and I just recently took a 2 month trip to Australia and New Zealand and we had a wonderful time there. We spent Christmas in New Zealand and we drove a campervan all over the north island of New Zealand and took a ferry over to the south island and drove through there staying at Holiday parks and all over. New Zealand sure is beautiful. And Australia is awsome too. There are a lot more things to do in Australia unless you just like to hike and raft and you know do out door things. But if you like shopping and bars and restaurants and boats and stuff like that then Australia is great. Larry and I saw the fireworks off of the Sydney Harbor bridge for New Years and it was spectacular. We were right by the Opera house and had a great time. If you do this some day I suggest either a hotel 3 years in advance right in the Harbor or really scope out a good spot to watch the fireworks because there a millions of people there looking for the same thing and if you don't plan you might not get a perfect spot. If you look at a map of Australia you can see where we went. We flew from Sydney to Cairnes drove to Cape tribulation, port douglas, where we swam in the great Barrier reef and let me tell you if you have ever snorkled or dove anywhere but here you ain't seen nothin yet. It's amazing and is huge and goes on for miles. Then we drove down to like townsville and back to Cairnes then took a plane from Cairnes to Brisbane, checked it out up and down then drove to byron Bay and back to Brisbane and then back to Sydney. We still would like to go back and see the rest of it. There is a lot to see there. It's as big as the United states so, you know. Anyway it was a trip of a lifetime and we will never forget it. The next trip will be around the world or back to the mainland to a state or states I have not been to yet. There is lots to see out there and I will do my best to see it all before I die. School The teacher or teachers that inspired me the most hmmmm, I think they all inspired me but who believed in me was Mrs. Rider, she always took extra time with me when I needed it and wanted to see me succeed. She cared and helped me succeed. Mrs. Patterson, sometimes she cared and some times she did'nt. She was a great teacher though. She was tuff but I think that that is important for a teacher. There's a lot of punk kids that need to know who the boss is. She was the boss. Mrs. Winter was a tuff one too. I wish she would have made me sit in her classroom every day after school and force math down my throat. I think sometimes she wanted me to succeed but did'nt want to waste her time. She did give me opportunities to fix my grades but if she would have taken her eyes off of the people that were getting A's and looked closer at the people who were getting C's maybe I could do math in my head instead of with a calculator.Maybe she was stressed.Maybe she could'nt stand me.Maybe I did'nt want her help. She is still a great teacher in my book. Mr. Trelor was a good guy but he liked teaching the people that actually could understand what he was saying. Maybe science was'nt my thing. I love it to death but I just could'nt get it then. Mrs. Curran was a cool teacher. Always happy and always willing to listen to what anyone had to say. She beli...Expand for more
eved in me.She tought me how to feel comfortable to speak in a room full of people. Eventhough you can never really get rid of the nervouse feeling and the red face you get when your standing there. I had fun with my presentations and actually made people laugh.I made her laugh even and that is priceless. Mrs. Oester. She was a tuff one too. I tried so hard in that class to make her happy. I love English and love to write but she always found something to pick at. I don't think my work impressed her as much as it impressed me. I wish I knew if she liked any of my work. I think it was more of the grammer that she did not like not the actual writing. My creative writing teacher seemed to love my writing and would give me tips on how to jazz it up a bit if she thought it needed it. I forget her name Ann something. Sorry!Mrs. VanZile liked my work and believed in me. Untill she got too popular and shined me on. I always looked foward to going to her class. She was an awsome teacher. And what's the other English teachers name Oh, Mrs. Devoley. Her class was a lot of fun too. She tought me a lot and believed in me. Then she got too popular too and shined me on. Maybe I'm weird to say all these things about my teachers but I loved school a lot and loved my teachers. I just wish I could have gotten a little more attention from all of them. They should have seen that I had potential and taken the time to make me better. On the other hand maybe they tried and I did'nt respond. Heck! I did'nt want to sit at school after school to do anything. It was party time after school for me. Maybe they should have given me more detentions or something. I loved the detention lady anyway. We got along well. I even had my own reserved seat in there. I forget her name and it makes me so mad. Her and Mrs. Foose were my favorite people at school. Mrs. Foose was the health and P.E. teacher. That was my favorite class besides English and having her as a teacher made it better. The first few weeks of her class me and Debby would always be late and she would get soooo mad. We would walk in 15 min. late laughing and making all kinds of noise. There was Mrs. Foose flaring her nostrals and turning red. She would stop the whole class and yell at us. I want to see both of you after class. We sat next to eachother for a while then we were seperated. Time passed and we grew to respect eachother. She was my favorite by far. Thanks to all the teachers in my life. You did well. And yes I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. College No collage for me. Although I probably should have went. I believe that it will always be there for me when I need to be there. I love school more than anything in the world, besides my man and my family and friends. But it would not be any good without the people I have already went to school with nor would it be any good without the same teachers I have already had in the past. Workplace I was a waitress for a year at Denny's. I quit the day Shanna had her baby. I hated Denny's anyway. I cleaned houses for almost 2 years for this awsome lady and with my good friend Corey Fehr. She disappered and so did he. I was the cleaning lady for 4 sons for a year. When I worked there that was the cleanest place you have ever seen. I quit that and started to work for a sticker and vending machine company called Brand Imports. I was there for 2 1/2 years running the printing machines, mailing sample packs, imputting information into the computer, Making displays for machines and for shows in Vegas. It was a great place to work. I must have gotten a dollor raise every 2 months there . I was making great money. Then they changed everything around and outsourced my job so I was pushed out. I drew unemployment for a year. Spent all my money and met a lady named Sue who is a dog groomer. She over heard me saying the next job I get will be with animals. I love animals and that is what I will do. She turned to me and said you can work for me. Be there Monday morning at 9:00 and you are in. So I was there on Monday at 8:58 and I worked there for about three years untill I just moved to Hawaii. Now I groom in my own business in my shop called Island Stylin', and run a construction business. I am the book keeper/cleaning lady/delivery/pickup/lunch lady. I clean up jobs, I pick up materials I make orders for materials, I show houses to customers, I make portfolios for the owners.Etc. Etc. As of August I have opened up ,not advertised yet, but have gotten a lot of customers from other customers day after day. It's called word of mouth. And that's the best way to have it. The customers and their owners love me and can see that I know what I am doing is right. I have always loved animals and this is my first step into the animal kingdom. Unless, I mean unless someone will give me the chance to be a vet's assistant without any experience some day. But on the other hand maybe that would be to tramatic for me. Grooming makes dogs look better and feel better and it give me a sense of accomplishment every hour of my day. I don't have to wait hours or days or even months for that feeling I am blessed to feel that way all day every day. Some people have the gift to be doctors , lawyers, astronauts, scientists, CEO's etc. etc. as Mrs. Oester would say. But I, I have the gift to be part of the animal world in some way. Grooming is important to humans with their animals and I was put on this earth to be a part of it, to a be a part of animals. If they ever had a class about animals when I was in school, trust me I would have been there. But NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That's later in life , well I have never seen those classes on the college schedule either. Military Military Schmilitary, not for me. I used to love to play army in the fountain hills washes but the real thing , no way. I mean I could do it because I am a badd ass and I do have a lot of cans of woop ass in my backpack but thats no place for me. Do they have an animal rescue? Ha Ha.
