Carolyn's Story
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did do." (Mark Twain). Regretfully, I did not do some things. Maybe I will still get them done!
Before graduation from high school, I began working immediately for the telephone company. During the next few years, I worked, danced with a rock band, joined the USO and enjoyed life to the fullest. Eventually I married and established a family. We traveled from one coast to another, state to state (dictated by my husband's career) about every 18 months or so. It was worse than moving with the service! Making friends quickly and losing them quickly was always hard for me as a military brat, but subjecting my children to the same life was heartbreaking.
To allow our children to attend and graduate from one high school, my husband went back to his original career and we bounced to another state yet again. While the kids went to high school, I decided to go to college and graduated with honors. During college full-time at night, working full-time during the day, and taking care of a home, a family and a husb...Expand for more
and (working in another state), I managed to open a business. I kept the business for many years and then recently closed it.
My life has been good. I wanted to go to college, own a business, be a published writer, and explore my passions. I have done each and continue to do what challenges me. My passions are travel (most recently to Morocco), genealogy, gardening, writing, photography, doll making, sewing and crafting, grand-parenting (two grandsons), and dancing.
Currently my passion is focused upon belly dancing and costuming. I like the workshops, the dance classes, the recitals, belly dancing, and the costume work. The costume work was unplanned! A purchased costume fit everywhere but in the bust, so I had to remake my own dance bra. I had never done beading or the application of sequins before this undertaking. It took a while for me to complete it, but it was beautiful!
I truly would like to hear from former classmates and friends. Your stories of some of the twists and turns that you have taken on your road of life would be great! I do find a few minutes weekly to say hi, so keep in touch!
