Carolyn Colburn:  

Five years after graduating in 1965 I returned to school. I was accepted at UTEP (Univ. of Texas at El Paso)and drove out there to begin my college education. While sitting in orientation, I feared I would not be able to manage financially school and living expenses on my own. So I packed up my belongs and headed back home to Maryland. Enrolled in Harford Community College and then later took courses at Maryland Institute College of Art and Univ. of Maryland. Never completed my degree (3 years), but between free-lance art work experience, college classes in both art, and business, I became an Illustrator and fine art painter. Along the way I was employed in a variety of positions. My most interesting was working for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Loved the atmosphere of working in "The Nation's Attic". Also was employed as an Administrative Assistant/Office Manager for a Law School in Santa Barbara, California. While employed there I rubbed shoulders with some notable personalities.
