Carolyn Pierce nee Edwards: Apparently lacking all imagination, I did indeed meet my husband, Steve, at our WHS graduation where, based upon height, we were paired to march together. Lacking full disclosure, we did not understand that the pairing would be for life, but we had a great time laughing and shucking-around with the other geeks in the back row. (My mother hated him and his mother disapproved of me, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that we were destined for each other.) After graduation, I went to UOP, a school selected for me by my parents, but feckless even then, I transferred to the Univ. of Oregon to be with my sister, Janet. (She married Gordon Stearns, and they have four sons.) Pursuing a degree in English “sort of” prepared me to offer secretarial service, a skill I plied to pay for a degree in urban planning for Steve, though this was not a real career path.
