Carolyn's Story
Life
I met and married George De Shazer in 1962. We moved to San Francisco in 1963. After working for Pacific Bell for couple of years, I became a stay-at-home mom for several years and then went back to finish getting my degree and teaching credential at San Francisco State.
We moved back to Fresno in 1998 to be near my folks both of whom died in 2003. I've enjoyed getting reaquainted with Fresno. When I left, Shaw was the edge of town and since we've been back, River Park has exploded
We have two adult daughters and one granddaughter living in Southern California. . We go down there often to visit.
We travel quite a bit but when I'm in Fresno, I enjoy visiting with many of my classmates from Caruthers.
College
Went to Reedley College ...Expand for more
and Fresno City College as well as Fresno State from 1959 until 1963. Then moved to the Bay area and went to Skyline Community College and San Francisco State where I got my teaching credential which I never used.
Workplace
I worked for Pacific Bell for several years in their marketing department in S. F. I was a stay-at-home mom for several years and then went back to school. After 11 years out of the workforce, I went back to Pacific Bell and worked in various positions for the next 18 years. The best thing about my job was that it was never boring and there was a lot of interaction with customers, peers and subordinates.
I retired in 1994 but then went back under contract for several years. I retired for good in 1998 when we moved to Fresno.
