Carrie's Story

I hope that old friends remember me....period. I always wanted to be a mother when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea idea. As it turns out, they were right. When I have the opportunity, being in the mountains relaxes me. However, since I live in Texas, I don't have that opportunity very often soooo, I play on the computer, watch tv and I love watching movies. Movies really chills me out. Would this be something that I would be willing to admit to? My kids are my heros. I was born in Denver, Co and when I was in the third grade, we moved to Castle Rock, Co. where we lived until I was in the 10th grade. Then we moved to Lacey, WA. where I graduated from high school. Right after high school, we moved to Waco, TX. I met my future husband at school there and after a year of marriage, we moved to Conroe, TX. We have been here ever since. Most of these times, it was due to jobs. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Bob Shaw, because I owe him an apology.. Computer and movies would have to be my obsessions. Well, my husband and kids would also have to be added into that equation too. I thought that I would be farther along in life than I have. Mostly financially. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the entire house inside and out and add on a wrap around porch. My dream home would be in Colorado.. They are resiliant. They are their own person and you really can't mold them. I would like to see Mr. Wall because he was a fun teacher. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my kids, then spend the rest on a new home, pay off debt and invest. During my first 2 years of school, I lived at home. However, my car broke down and while it was getting fixed, I stayed with a friend that lived in campus apt. My bachelor's was done online and now I am in graduate school and that is on line. So don't have alot of experience with campus life. I feel that I would be truly happy living in Colorado, working with pregnant teens and being with my family. My current age is 45. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be oooold. I was so completely right. I received my BA in Maternal Childhealth and Lactation Consulting with the idea of working with women during childbirth and afterwards. Now it looks like I have ...Expand for more
taken a different direction. I have entered graduate school--obtaining my teaching certification in health with the hopes of working with pregnant teens and teen moms within the schools. My first crush was when I was in the 4th grade and I don't know what happened to him. My best friend would tell you I'm wild and crazy rebel, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as shy and quiet. I don't dress like I did 10 or 20 years ago because I don't look like I did. If I did, then you bet I would dress like I did when I was younger. Well, maybe more hip stuff. Some would call what I do now as being weird because it is not your normal job. I am a birth doula--translated--I help and support women during childbirth. I am also a lactation consultant which means that I help and educate new mothers about breastfeeding their babies. I share my home with my husband of 24 years, daughter, 1 dog, 4 cats and my son who is off at college, which I find rewarding and crazy all at the same time. I have awards from working at WIC as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. I also have a gift that a woman gave me as a thank you for helping her with breastfeeding her baby. If I could do something over again, I would go back and make better choices in my early adult live with regards to financial decisions. In 10 years, I hope to be working as a teacher. I'm going to get there by getting my teaching certification. My oldest friend would be Tammy Long. We met in the 7th grade. She also went to my church. I think that it was the first year of girls camp that started our friendship. My weight might surprise people as I was pretty small in high school. Also, maybe the fact that I have been married to the same man for 24 years. My first job was at McDonalds, where I got paid minimum wage to ..... What I remember most about it is Most of my best memories come from McDonalds. My 18th birthday. When MaryBeth Hugil and Tammy GeHart kidnapped me. They were dressed as 2 guys that I would have liked to go out on a date with...that was Christopher Reeves and Marty Faulk. They took me to downtown Olympia and made me change my clothes in a telephone booth. Do you know how difficult that is to change your clothes in a telephone booth on a busy intersection without people seeing you naked?
