Morgan's Story
Life
After getting my bachelor's degree in Biology, I spent two years in the Peace Corps in Gabon, Central Africa. I taught villagers how to build fish ponds and raise fish, in French! When I got home, I relaxed for a bit and then went back to school for my master's degree in environmental science in Minnesota. Once my husband Tom and I finished our degrees, we headed off to Glenwood Springs, Colorado where I had gotten a 6 month job with the Forest Service. Tom couldn't find a job in Glenwood, but he did find a job in Boise, ID....Expand for more
So...after the 6 months in Colorado, I moved up to Boise and found a job with the University of Idaho Water Resources Research Institute as a GIS specialist. Not exactly in my field, but a useful skill. But when an aquatic biologist position opened up in the Planning Bureau of the Idaho Department of Water Resources, I was here to snag it. It's in my field and it's permanent - yay! We'll probably stay in Boise for at least five years, and then see if we can find jobs in a smaller town somewhere a little closer to the mountains.
