Catherine's Story

Life Yes, Mike and I are still married and enjoying every minute of our life together still. We met in High School and married in Oct. 1965. He had just graduated that year and I was a senior. I know everyone said it would not last. We had our first son, Michael in 1966, and then getting pregnant was so easy, with Michael we thought we would try again. Well, it did not work until 1970, then we had our son, Troy. He will be 35 this Dec. Both of our sons were, and still our the joy of our life. I was lucky and got to stay home with them and be a housemom for 17 years and then Mike got sick and hihohiho off to work I went. I got a job at Kaiser Permanente Hospital and worked in the eye clinic and glasses and contact department. I got to work, over the time, in 10 different Kaisers until my homebase was Walnut Creek and Shadelands. I quess I liked it there cause I was there over 20 years and just recently had to retire. I lost a lot of my hearing and no one anywhere can fix me. But, I am thrilled to be back home. Oh yeh, Mike, he worked as a mechanic for over 25 years and has retired from that field. He works for the Contra Costa Fire Protection Dist. He started there in 1991. He loves working there , it is like one big family. He is a supply guru there. He orders and gets delivered all of the equipment and clothes the Firefighters need. He is off work right now. He has had surgery on his foot and he is home with me, Nurse Ratchett. ur son, Michael lives in Brentwood. Michael is a wonderful father and we are proud of him. He just got married again and his new wife Dynese and him are having a baby next year. Michael has three children from his first marriage. Kyle is 16 and is a junior in High School and Macayla is 12 and in 7th grade, and Connor is 8 and is in 3rd grade. We spent a lot of time with these kids over the years and enjoyed every minute. Our son, Troy lives in Concord. He is a Firefighter-Paramedic and he won the Medal of Valor for saving lives in Alameda City. We are really proud of him and how he risk his life everyday for others. Troy and his wife, Carmela have two children, the princess, Alison who is 4 and Nathan who is almost 2 and a Dollbaby. I love going over to their parklike setting house and watching the kids and their animals. Mike and I play a lot of golf and love to travel. We will be doing alot of both as soon as he gets well and goes back to work and retires next year. Mike has retired and is working 3 days a week as a contracted employee for the Fire Dept. It is great and we have so much to thankful for. We are truly blessed. Hope to hear from you... We hope to see some of you at the reunion next month. Mike's 40th reunion. So everyone in the class of 65 we will see you there. Hopefully, there will be a 40th reunion next year for my class of 66. Write when you can and say Hello.. Bye for now...Live every day to its fullest.....
