Catherine's Story
Life
A highlight of the past 30 years was when my husband, Jim, and I were honored to be chosen to carry the Olympic Torch for the Winter Games in Salt Lake City. I had nominated him for his fight with brain cancer and the committee chose the two of us as "Inspirational Couples." My two daughters were able to watch us as we carried the torch in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
I have lived in Florida, Maryland and now Marion, Iowa. To think that a Florida girl could be happy in the Midwest is a surprise. a State University and is a cheerleader at the college. She was a member of the Iowa Elite Cheerleading Squad that attended the National All-Star Cheerleading competition at Walt Disney World. They won 2nd in the Nation last year. My stepchildren, David and Rachel, are also lights in my life. David is an attorney in Anderson, SC and Rachel is doing voice overs for movies, commercials and cartoons in Los Angeles. My husband on medical disability, has been diagnosed with chronic leukemia and takes care of the house. I work at a law firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
And yes, when the floods hit Cedar Rapids, Iowa last year, we were effected by them. The river crested at 33 1/2 feet and spread out 10 blocks.
