Catherine's Story

Hi All: Can you believe it's been almost 40 years since graduation? I'm looking forward to the 40 year class reunion June 18, 2011 - it's Father's Day weekend - and just around the corner seeing how time just flies now that we're older. I've been busy working as a staff pharmacist in Santa Barbara since 1976; 29 years at Prescription Pharmacy and now 2 years at Sansum Clinic Pharmacy. I am a SB Pharmacist Associaton board member and participate in career day at the local high schools although the pharmacy school curriulum has changed in the 34 years since graduation! I'm filling prescriptions from doctors who weren't even born when I graduated MBHS or UOP! Steve and I just celebrated our 29th anniversary. We were married in Morro Bay on August 30, 1981. Our two daughters are living in San Diego. Danielle graduated with a degreee in Marketing Communications from SDSU in 2008 and is working (thank goodness) in a retail setting and Stephanie is due to graduate from SDSU with a degree in Psychology in December 2010. My spare time is spent reading, knitting/crocheting, ocassional yard work. I love going to musicals and watching GLEE. I started piano lessons 10 years ago - a lesson every 3 weeks -it's really hard as an adult while it was easy for Dan and Steph when they started at age 5 - anyway, I play and sound like I've only had 3.5 years of practice. I keep plodding along because I think it's good to do something challenging to ward off the onset of "senior moments". Thank goodness I don't have to do r...Expand for more
ecitals! I feel fortunate that Steve and I still have our parents living in relatively good heath in Carlsbad and Morro Bay, repectively. Though the Moms are 79 and the Dads are 84 they still enjoy seeing the grandkids and 3 great-grandkids for Steve's parents. We had a 100+ attendees at the Young Family Reunion in San Rafael this summer though it's sad to realize my Dad, Mom and 2 aunts are the last of the 2nd Young generation and I've already had one cousin pass away. She was only a years older than me. The most important things in life aren't things; Live the lie you love, love the life you live; All you need is love; Live simply, care deeply, love generously, speak kindly; Laugh, love, forgive; Be the change you want to see in the world; Relish small pleasures; Follow your heart, listen to your soul. Last but not least: An interesting creative piece on you tube Lost Generation A palindrome reads the same backwards as forward. This video reads the exact opposite backwards as forward. Not only does it read the opposite, the meaning is the exact opposite. This is only a 1 minute, 44 second video and it is brilliant. Make sure you read as well as listen…forward and backward. This is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20-year old. The contest was titled u at 50 This video won second place. When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. So simple and yet so brilliant. Take a minute and watch it. Hope you enjoyed it... Catherine
