Catherine (Cackie)'s Story
In High School and College, I seemed to have more than one "nick-name", so some of you may know me by "Jo" or "Cacky" and now everyone(except some ole' friends) call me Cathy.
After graduating from Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, Va. I attended Averett College(now University, graduated in l950, worked in Roanoke,Va. Married in l952 to a General Contractor, building in Roanoke area until moving to Va. Beach l961.For 10 years there I was with emergency services-8 yrs.as a paramedic.Moved to NC in l983.My husband passed away in 2002. I have three children- all wonderful contributing young adults; 4 grandchildren, and now (August 2010) have a great-grandson! My present life involves running Cape Hatteras Bed and Breakfast in Buxton on Hatteras Island, NC. I have had the opportunity to meet many interesting people from all over the world and have made many new friends. I am retiring as Innkeeper this year 2010.Through the years, many of my classmates and I have continued to stay in touch and I treasure these friendships,even tho' we are scatt...Expand for more
ered here and there and don't get to "visit" often. For those of you who knew my parents:My Dad passed away in 1979. Mother passed away in Feb. 2003.I have sold her home in Salem,VA., so will not be visiting Salem as often as in the past.Would love to hear from you and know how all of you are-hopefully healthy, happy and enjoying life-God Bless!
December 2004, I took a wonderful trip to Vienna, Austria; Bratislava,Slovakia;and Budapest,Hungary.Traveled on a Riverboat down the Danube to each of these places.Had a wonderful time,enjoyed good company,great food(it's a wonder I didn't weight at least 20 pounds more.HA!Would highly recommend the trip and would take it again.
I have two friends who live in Florida(Andrew Lewis 1947 grads-) we visit occasionally,love seeing them and dredging up memories and making new ones.Would love to see you if you come to Hatteras Island--look me up!!
I am now a RETIRED Innkeeper, finally have a life of my own enjoying life,friends, traveling, catching up with many of you. I have been so blessed my whole life!
