Cathie's Story
Life
Life has taken many forks in many roads.
After attending Newberry College in Newberry, SC, for two years, I moved to Southern California at 18. There I met my future husband, Henry. We married when I was twenty. Two years later we had Steven Christopher, then four years later, Laura (who died of a heart problem at 12 days), then a year later, Julie Anne.
When Julie was four, I returned to school to get my teaching degree and Master's in Educational Curriculum. I taught in elementary education for twenty-seven years and retired four years ago.
My beloved husband of 22 years died in 1989 of secondhand lung cancer. He had been a restaurant manager (Don the Beachcomber's) for forty years.
Three years later, I met my present husband, John. We have been married for 15 years.
We live in a Sun City community where life is a constant class or activity!
Three years ago, my daughter talked me into becoming a realtor with Keller Williams so that she and I could form a team.
Since 1990, I have travelled extensively in Europe, especially France. Paris is my favorite city. I have always felt that even when I am alone there, it is the most romantic of cities. The message on my license plate says, in French, "...Expand for more
I am an American, but my heart is Parisian!"
Four years ago, my brother, Grady, and I went on an Alaskan cruise together. It was our first vacation together since childhood. Two years ago, my husband and I took several cruises to the Mexican Riviera. What fun!
So, you can see, life has been both good to me and, at times, bad, but I have weathered it all, collecting wrinkles and age spots along the way.
The adventure is still in full swing. In July 2007, Grady and I flew to Paris for a week, with trips to the Normandy Beaches and Giverny, Monet's home, then on to Copenhagen. There we boarded a ship to visit Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Warnemunde, and St. Petersburg. What an adventure that was! I'll keep you informed as to which new forks in the road I will take next.
My daughter's roommate at the Sorbonne in Paris was a Greek girl. She got married in Oct. 2008, so we all flew to Thessaloniki, Greece, for the wedding!! After the wedding, we flew to Paris for a week to show my 3 and 5 year old granddaughters the City of Lights. Wow! (My 11th trip to Paris!)
PS. If anyone wants a guided tour of Paris, France, just let me know! I'll meet you there, tell you where to stay, what to see! I LOVE PARIS!!!
