Cathy's Story
Life
I am a mother of 2 girls and a son-in-law, Meghn Alice age 24 (Meghn's new husband Morris Altizer Jr. age 27) and Sara MaryCathryn Helgeson age 20. I have 2 grandaughters Angelique Mickael 4 years old, Bryonna MarieAlyse age 2 and one more grand daughter on the way. I enjoy writting poetry and have been lucky enough to have had a couple of them published. I love photography and I love to spend time with family (they are my best friends), I also enjoy working out in the yard. I have 1 dog, 2 cats, 1 bird and a 55 gallon fish tank and 1 rabbit. I love to travel, camp, anything that has to do with nature and the outdoors. Music, Music, Music...gotta love it! One of the best stress relievers I know of and I love to dance too!
I don't socialize much outside the family because I really can't deal with gossip and/or backstabbers. I feel that if you have something to say, you should say it to the persons face (not many people do it that way, I guess it's not as much fun) and there's always the old saying, if you don't have anything nice to say then zip it and keep it to yourself!
I also work with hospice and participate in giving blood and plasma regularly. I am a big supporter in organ donation.
School
I attended Buchanan Elementary in 1966 until Jr. High at Frost and was in Chior at both schools. I spent my 7th grade year at Frost and both schools were located in Livonia,MI. My friends were many! The Raymond's MaryAnn, Madonna, Joanne, Sue & Eddie, The Witgen's (Doug), The Clark's (Brandon & Lynne), The Bechtel's (Nancy & Ruth), Laura Rowe, Mark Manion, The Rheinschmitt's (Pam, Mike, Dianna, Deanna, Sherry, Sandy & Mark), The Cybert's Bruce, Gerenan's Gary, Jeannie..., The Prine's, Amy McDougle, The McCartney's (Melvia & Gail), Sue & Pam Olds, Perry Hogarth, The Mahoney's, The Centifonti's (Tina & Tom), The Church's (Shelly), Doreen Bosse...and the list goes on....
We moved to Belleville the first year North Jr. High opened so I decided along with my parents I would start out new and redo 7th grade over again.
Well what can I say... it was a great decission and I loved it there I never hung in the clicks but I had friends in most. I'm the one that got her butt kicked during my 9th grade year by the looney from girls town. In Jr. High I dated Bob Lorraine who was on the football team at the high school. In high school my father wouldn't let me attend any fuctions so I only went if he fell asleep and my Mom set the clocks back for me! I was in Chior in Jr. High. My best friends were Bob Lorraine Terri Gartside, Lisa Masters, John Ferguson, Rick Foster, Harold, Myron & James Dubose. Other friends were Angela Hall, Debbie Bunnell, Rhonda Simmons, Dave Cooper, Brian Miller, Charle & Roseann Shaffran, Vince (his last name slips my mind), Jimmy & Danny O'Donnell, Debbie (Herkie), Betty Gilbert, Woody, D...Expand for more
ave Adams...the list goes on and I'm sory if I didn't list you here but I remember you and I liked Everyone (I think that may have been the problem!).
My favorite teachers were Mr. Manson, Miss Gay and Mr. Muser and Oh lord way can't I remember the Art teacher and my poetry teachers name at the High School? And of course *Mr. RichenDollar* and Mr. Tabor! Obviously Art and Engilish were my favorite classes and my favorite things were chocolate shakes and the donuts at the high school!
I worked at Cloverdale for a while. I lived at Knob on the lake until we moved to Harmany Lane (Fisher Rd.). I drove a white 1966 Bonniville Converable and loved to cruz the Main. In the late fall of my 11th year my parents seperated and I moved to Plymouth were I attended school at Plym. Canton High School and found myself back at school with John Ferguson who I also dated for a short time! 12th grade was spent at Bentley. I hung out with people from Bentley and Franklin High School. I ended up having to quit school to help support the family, worked as a secretary full time but I went to Adult Ed and got my GED, then joined the Marine Corps in June of 1977.
I went back to school at Pearson in Redford MI. in the early 1990's for three years taking Psychology and English ( and am Proud to say I aced them all with A+'s!). I have since had some of my poetry published and working on more.
Workplace
what can I say...I'm a jack of all trades and a master of none so they say! Not really. I am a perfectionist and have mastered everything I've tried my hand at with the exception of parenting which as we all know comes with no handbook on how to be perfect! I am pleased to say that my children are proud of their Mom and that's all that counts. The reason for so many jobs is that I chose to be at home with my kids and worked only when I wasn't helping at their schools or when they were not home (after school was out, holidays, school vacation was not a time for work out side the home for me). I believe that having the oppertunatey to experience so many different jobs and meet so many different people was a perk that most will never have the chance to experience. I consider myself blessed! Thank You to My Mom for being there for me and being so supportive, it was a rough road and I couldn't have done it with out her ~ MOM, I LOVE YOU!
Military
Well I went to boot camp at Parris Island South Carolina in the Fall 1977 and graduated with a promotion from Pvt. to Pfc. After boot camp I was sent to Quantico Virginia were I satayed until my discharge because I fell in love. I passed up all transfers (travel) just to stay with him (dumb decission, LOL). I was always in trouble, the rebel with a cause!
GOTTA RUN FOR NOW PLEASE COME BACK LATER I'LL HAVE FINISHED BY THEN. I HAVE A INTERESTING STORY TO TELL! THANKS!
