Cathy's Story
As many of you know, I married Dennis Hess (Ryan '73) in June 1978 at St Thomas More Church with our beloved Fr John Vernon officiating. We moved to Santa Clara, California and lived there for 3 years. Our son, Todd Michael, was born in May 1980 in San Jose. We moved back to Omaha in October 1981. Our second son, Kenneth Eugene, was born in September 1985. Both boys graduated from St Thomas More and went on to attend Daniel Gross High School. Denny and I were divorced in May 2004, after 25 years of marriage.
I currently work in my dream job of all time at as the receptionist at the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Omaha! I've always had a strong desire to work for the Church and that dream finally came through last year! I left a job as Office Manager at Heartland Family Service Homeless Services after just 10 months because the Chancery opportunity came up. Prior to Heartland Family Service, I worked for the Visiting Nurse Association as the HR Administrative Team Assistant from Dec 2012 until Feb 2017. I was the Administrative Assistant (Office Goddess Extraordinaire!) of the Omaha Wendy's Area Office for 19 years. The office closed in 2012. Prior to that, I worked fo...Expand for more
r Dun and Bradstreet in Omaha and San Jose, Scientfic Products in Sunnyvale, CA and the McGoogan Library of Medicine at UNMC. I also dabbled in financial services.
I am the grandmother of Todd's beautiful little girl, Pyper Alexandra Hess, who was born on February 16, 2007. Todd is a single dad.
On September 26, 2008, I married Kenneth Hart at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Carl Salanitro officiating. Both of my boys walked me up the aisle! Ken and I spent a week in Washington, D.C. for our honeymoon, which included a full day tour of Gettysburg, PA, a tour of "inside" D.C., and a tour of Mt Vernon, along with our self guided tours of the monuments, Smithsonian Museums, the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, etc.
My interests and hobbies include reading and hanging out at Barnes and Noble, playing the piano (when I get a chance!),sewing, golf and exercising. I've been in my house in South Central Omaha for over 35 years. My dad passed away in Dec 2016 after a brief illness. My mom is still alive and active. I am STILL a Nebraska Cornhusker nut! GO BIG RED!!
I think of our Ryan times often and would love to communicate with old friends from those great years!
