Cathy's Story
Workplace
Life's been good! Married 25 years in September..two great children, Marv (23) and Allison (20). My son was definitely my payback for the wild times of my youth. Difference was, he got caught at just about everything he did :)and there wasn't a whole lot he could get by me for sure (been there, done that). They are both our pride and joy.
Have spent my entire career in banking. Took me a couple of banks to find a career, but have been with the management of my current bank for over twenty years. Had the thrill of starting our own bank almost nine years ago after our former bank was bought out by a large North Carolina bank. If you are in the Tidewater area, you have probably heard a story or two about TowneBank, and I'm proud to say I had a piece of that story. What a thrill to start something from scratch and see it prosper.
Most recently I was charged with the responsibility of implementing a Small Business Banking solution and it has been a huge success. TowneBank earned an award this past year for our...Expand for more
success which I gladly accepted with two of my associates in Palm Springs, CA.
Husband and I spent several months a year traveling up to Northern Virginia for the Redskin games. Yes, we are fanatics. Can't blame Marvin though, he waited 29 years for those season tickets and finally, now, we can enjoy them. Now that the kids are older, we don't have to worry too much that the whole City of Chesapeake was partying at our house while we were gone and the house is still basically in one piece upon our return. It's nice to get the weekend getaways after all these years of working and raising kids.
Marv is still with the shipyard, been there for about 30 years now. He keeps threatening he'll retire, but I'm not ready yet..not for him to retire or for me to be working while he's home...of course I could make up some great 'honey do' lists.
I hope all my former classmates are happy and have achieved all they wanted to in life..but if you haven't reached those goals yet, not to worry..our best times are still yet to come.
