Cathy's Story
I would hope that old friends would remember me as someone who was a loyal friend. I was a cheerleader in high school.
I have lived in Ohio, California, Australia, and Arizona. I moved around because I liked to go where good friends and family lived, and I liked to try new things and new places. Since my divorce, I returned to Chardon in 2019 to live near my sister Susan in Chardon and my brother John in Kentucky. Sadly I lost my brother Ron (Class of 1968) to cancer 14 years ago.
I enjoy watching a couple reality TV shows, comedies, crime shows and action flicks. I enjoy listening to pop music, oldies, and contemporary Christian music. To relax I read, listen to music, or do crossword puzzles. For fun my friends and I love patio dining for lunch or dinner while the weather's nice. Also enjoy listening to our favorite pop bands up at the town square, or dancing to their music while also dining at local wineries and sports bars.
I've been to Hawaii (Big Island), Maui, cruises to eastern Caribbean and western Caribbean, all throughout Europe, Australia. I have travelled with friends to Northern Ireland, Paris, London, and Jamaica.
I love to visit my daughters and grandchildren as much as I can. Since I moved back to Ohio, it's easy to take a car trip to N. Carolina to see my youngest daughter and three grandchildren, as well as my oldest daughter and three grandchildren in S. Carolina. I drove across country to Arizona to visit my middle daughter and 3 grandchildren in November 2022. I hadn't seen them for almost 3 years, so it was a great trip to make new memories.

to do something over again, I would stay home to raise my children until they were in full-time elementary school. Instead I graduated from college to become an elementary school teacher (K-1) when my daughters were still pretty young. Later on I finished my Master's in education and became a reading specialist for K-3. While the salary was nice to be able to afford to do important things for our daughters (3 college educations, 3 weddings), I would've liked to have spent more time with each of them when they needed me the most, even through high school.
The most shocking thing that happened in my life was when I faced 23 hrs (2 operations) of surgery for a benign brain tumor that covered the whole right side of my brain in 2002. I went back to teaching the next year until it became more difficult to keep up the hectic pace of teaching young children 4 years later, at which time I retired. I have had numerous physical therapies to help my balance and gait. I have worked with personal trainers to develop core strength and balance. After all that, I am still left with some numbness and a slight limp, but it could've been so much worse. I just started some more physical therapy and Pilates, and am enjoying it.
My grandchildren are the light of my life now. Their names are Jada, grandson Brady, Victoria (Tori), Alice, Cashel (Cash), Chantel, Evangeline (Evie), Ezra, and Austin, all 15 yrs of age and under.
I had some home renovations done last fall 2022. I love my home and want to continue to update and decorate so I can enjoy it even more and do more entertaining. Would also love to travel more.
