Cathy Snow:

CLASS OF 1969
Asheboro, NC

Cathy's Story

The summer of '69 was filled with work, pageant and preparing for NCSU. I loved being away at school, all the new people, challenging classes and new experiences. The "new" wore off the second year and I was totally overwhelmed. I came back home, went to work for 6 months, then moved back to Raleigh on my own. Richard was at NCSU then, so we didn't have the weekend commute to deal with. We both moved back to A'boro after about a year. We did as expected and married in '73. We stayed in Asheboro another year before moving to Clemons. Just after our first son was born (Richard,III "Richie")we returned home once again where Richard went to work in his father's business. Our second son (Jonathan) was born in '78. Raising the boys was the best thing in my life! I was very lucky with them. They were bright, talented and somehow never had the typical teenage problems. I spent several years working with Jaycettes and ended up directing the same Miss Randolph pageant that I had twice participated in. I reentered the work force in '81 learning the art of dental technology. In '86 Richard and I separated, then divorced. As was our tendency t...Expand for more
o not follow the norm, we did not keep the boys together. Richie stayed with his dad and Jonathan with me. They were always together on the weekends, so they ended up with the best of both worlds. They were an "only child" that happened to have a sibling. Richard remarried around '85. A little later he took a job in Raleigh where he moved and eventually founded his own company. I remarried in '89 (same day he and #2 separated coincidentally). Along with a new husband, I inherited 3 grown step-daughters. They have now produced 5 grandchildren. In '99 Terry (my hubby) and I opened our own dental lab, Snow Dental Arts, Inc. We run it with just ourselves and our border collie Jazmin. As for my kids, they both pursued a music education at UNCG. Richie was music ed and Jonathan was music performance. He won first place for Brass Quintets (as lead trumpet) at the International Brass competition held at UGA in '01. At this time there are no spouses, grandchildren or even pets. Richie is living in NYC and with his beautiful Japanese girlfriend. Jonathan lives in Raleigh. Both play trumpet in area groups and both work in computer technology.
