Cavan's Story

Hey you guys! ok, I'm trying to get better at connecting with people by keeping all of my social media fresh and updated. Sorry if I have been a bad boy regarding this in the past. I realize that some of you remember me from Paschal, but it's been a long time with a lot of water passing underneath all of our bridges. I'm going to just put up a general bio here. I have many more stories to tell! This is just the basic stuff. I would love to connect with anyone who wants to share whats happened over the last 30 years (it freaks me out just to say that)! I was named after an Irish county 'County Cavan', which sits at the northern end of the Irish Republic, directly below Northern Ireland. I am recently separated from my wife of 26 years, and I need to find new interests and meet new people. I am a Fort Worth native (Alice Carlson Elementary, McLean Middle and Paschal High). I moved to Hawaii in 1989 and lived on the island of Kauai for six years. My wife and I owned a retail gift store on Hanalei Bay and sold Balinese silver (popular at the time) and batik pareos and lots of hip...Expand for more
pie stuff and incense. I was on the island when hurricane Iniki ravaged the island, destroying most of Hanalei. As a result, we relocated our gift store in Kapaa which is on the East side of the island. Within two years after the hurricane, my wife and I had two children, which are my strength and inspiration. In late 1995, I moved back to Granbury, Texas and opened another retail gift shop on the square. Between 1995 and 2002, I created another business called 'Texas Dirt Shirts' which was a line of souvenir novelty t-shirts dyed in red clay with Texas themed designs silk screened on the front. Shortly after this, my wife and I created a second line of hand made gifts called 'Caseys Planet' named after my son. This line consisted of stained glass mosaic wall crosses, and we sold them nationwide. Currently, I am a local artist and art teacher with the Fort Worth ISD. I teach art to kids who come from some very rough neighborhoods with a lot of drug and alcohol abuse and gang activity. Teaching has opened me up to seeing the world in a new, more realistic but loving and hopeful way.
