Cecelia's Story
Since graduating AUHS I have done lots of things. I worked at D-land in the Mexican Village, the Glass Blowers Shop and as a bilingual Tour Guide. While at the park I discovered that folks would pay for my photos...that launched my freelance photo biz. I became the first Mexican/American reporter/photog to work in the OC at the Anaheim Bulletin (1964).
A job offer took me to San Francisco. It was there that I found out I had MS, when I went to get a health exam. The job offer disapeared and I had to scrabble for a way to make a living.
The Register wrote a story about me and the MS. If you want to read it just plug in ocregister/ariaz.
I lived in San Francisco during the Summer of Love on the Pan Handle of Golden Gate Park...what a place to have been that summer! And, ended up living in the SF Bay area for 40+ years. Part of those years were in ...Expand for more
Sonoma and Santa Rosa. Living in Sonoma County has been a JOY..! And I plan to return there someday.
While I am here in Anaheim and was taking care of my mother and selling real estate. If any of you ate at the "Bean Hut," you ate my mother's food...the place was owned by my Uncle Joe.
An Update: My mother, Mary Ariaz, passed away on Dec. 29, 2009. It was a great life with her and now we must go on.
An other update: 7/16/2010 - Am now with First Team Real Estate here in Anaheim and find myself busy with some listings and sales. And along the way I am selling my mother's houses. It is sort of hard to see them go. My partents bought the properties in 1945, we grew up here, as did my nephews, and I've watched the neighborhood change but, in its way still remain the same. I will miss it when I return to Santa Rosa, CA, sometime in the future.
