cecelia's Story

After graduating from Spotsy, I went to tech school. Then went to work in Falmouth . The company moved to Springfield. I changed jobs in 1968, and went to the cafeteria at Mary Washington College where I was a secretary. I married Ivan J. Hairfield. in 1969. In 1975 he opened his own business {Hairfield's Garage} where he did mechanical work. He stayed busy. ttack. Had surgery with complete recovery. They wanted to operate on his back, and he told the dr. that if he could give him the same amount of coverage, he would do surgery. The heart dr. came 99% of coverage. He only gave 50%, with that Ivan said no surgery. He ended up getting cancer, and passed away Sept. 17, 2009. I went to work with Spotsylvania School system (Massaponax High School as a Paraeducator). I worked there for 23 years, and retired May 27th of 2022. I love not getting up in the mornings, having to go to work. Retirement is ok, and on a limited income it stinks.. Staying home most of the time with the family.
