Cecilia's Story
Life is good!
In April 2014 I returned to live in the United States after 35 years in Israel. I'm settling down in the town of Nahcotta on the beautiful Long Beach Peninsula, Washington state. I live with my three miniature dachshunds, Scarlett, Apple, and Connor.
I'm an artist, writer (2 books on Amazon and hopefully more to come...), translator, and a resource development specialist. Stained glass and lampworking are the mainstays of my creative and professional life: you can find my art on Etsy by searching Cecilia Cohen. I also spent 2 years studying metalsmithing and jewelry design and have some textile design experience.
I am divorced and have 4 sons between the ages of 23 and 29. The eldest is a certified tour guide in Israel, and an experienced goatherd and caver. The second is studying Physical Therapy at Tel Aviv University. My third son is a university student in Jerusalem in the field of computer science, and my youngest recently completed his mandatory IDF service and has yet to decide on his next steps in life.
My hobbies are many and varied - right now I'm striving to fix up my new studio and home. I am learning to play fiddle and am a pianist in a classical quartet. I volunteer in my community. I also go for long walks along the beach and bay. I wouldn't change much about my life, even if I could - I'm very happy.
School? Yuck.years of Northgate would be a highlight. I loved working on the newspaper. Hated PE because you had to shower
I can't say I have a lot of wonderful memories from high school - but probably performing in musicals through 3 af...Expand for more
terwards in the communal showers... loved PE because of badminton and the dancing classes in the winter... Liked lunch time, hanging out in the band room, listening to people jam. Loved choir. If I had been smarter, I would have dropped all the college-prep stuff and taken more fun electives, gotten to know myself better. Taken myself less seriously....
Let's call it a career....
oooooh... You can do a lot in almost 60 years (God, are we really that old already?!?) Not in any particular order or preference, I've cleaned hotel rooms, served food in a coffee shop, painted houses, delivered newspapers, worked as a safety engineer, designed and built websites and software, tutored math and English, translated papers, written and edited books, worked in ceramic and sprinkler factories, been a beekeeper (that was COOL!), managed a herd of beef cattle, volunteered as an aide in a 1st grade class, wrote (and published) music, illustrations and articles, created/decorated furniture, painted murals, and that's not listing everything... Through it all, for the past 25+ years I've been a mother (the hardest and most rewarding job) and for many years was a legal wife (I left him in 1995 - one of the few jobs I quit rather than grew out of). I've also dabbled in art on and off. In 2005 I became been a full-time glass artist and hope to return to that full-time within a few years... As an artist I teach, create, sell, mentor, design. Managing my own business, I do the finances, marketing, purchasing, etc. Not bad for someone who has trouble remembering to balance her checkbook...
