Celia's Story
Let's see, where to begin?? After heading for Salem and trade school, I headed back to the area and started working in a group of different jobs and back to LBCC for some accounting courses. That's when I met Hubby Mike. He was in the Computer Program. We married in '84 and then things really got started!!
We had been married about 7 years and he accepted a position in PA, then back to OR for 2 yrs. So the University of AK Fairbanks hired him on a 2 yr contract. Well, 8.5 yrs later, the company in PA hired him back and we moved to CO. After 9.5 yrs there and one EF3 (165 mph sustained winds) Tornado, of which our house was ground zero, we started looking into moving back to the PNW. And we are now in Longview, WA.
During all of this I have had many jobs and many experiences. I was Office Manager for our Church and School in PA, then in Albany I was a Commercial Lines Rater for an Insurance Company. Then in Fairbanks I had a blast working in a little Kitchen Store selling all sorts of gadgets, coffee, tea, and small appliances plus a little Crystal and China thrown in. Then to CO we went and I worked for a company contracted to DOD, DOJ, TSA....well, you get the idea. We did the background checks for Top Secret Clearances. Then we had a very large layoff and I have not been working since. Just a lady of leisure.
If you can say quilting, machine embroidery, Tunisian crochet, knitting, and all sorts of stuff like that is leisure. I a...Expand for more

No children, unless you count four-legged ones. We have always had at least one in the house with us. Right now we have Duke (Danish Shepherd/Boxer cross 5 yrs) and K-OS (Choc Lab/Choc Doberman cross 4 yrs). Duke is my protector. Duke will come and sit on me when he thinks I need to be protected like during thunder or when I broke my ankle. K-OS we never should have named that way. He is!! Actually he's a big goofball and we laugh at him a lot. Especially when he groans when he's asleep. Or when he shakes his toys so violently that he's smacking himself in the face!!
I have met some great people along the way and am sure that I will meet so many more. All the trials and tribulations that we have gone through in our lives have made us the people we are today. I think about that every time I look back at my life. People asked me how I can laugh about being "Ground Zero" for the Tornado and then Hubby becoming a Certified NOAA Storm-Chaser. Well, you can sit around and cry and be afraid your whole life or you can stand up and make something happen for the positive. Our lives (Mike and I) have been an adventure and we are so glad that it has been and, really, doesn't show too much of that stopping, just altering to accommodate things that may be a little harder for us now that we're aging.
So, that's about it for me. Hope all have had some wonderful adventures. It makes life so much fun!!
