Chanin's Story

Life Howdy! Well, after I graduated East Gaston, I went to NC State. I got married to James after my junior year of college and graduated with a BS in Materials Science and Engineering in '94. I couldn't find a good job (recession!!), so in '95 I went back to NC State. Got a certificate that said I could program computers and got a job at Nortel in '96. By 1999 I had been promoted to sr. software designer, had software working on 5 continents, and was seriously burnt out. So when my son was born in March of 1999, I got out of the rat race for a bit, and became a stay-at-home mom. I have since had 2 more sons ...Expand for more
in 2001 and 2003. I am now back in the rat race, big time! I work for the great state of NC as the CTO of the NC Virtual Public School. I research and develop web stuff for kids to use while hopefully learning something, train people on how to use our computer tools, and figure out how to spend the state's money in the most efficient way. I also like to play when I am not working - I hike, practice Tae Kwon Do, quilt, travel, work for the PTA, help with Boy Scouting, and basically keep our family running. I would love to hear from you guys, my married name is Rivenbark and I am in the Raleigh, NC phone book.
